STEPS FOR DETERMINING SIZE
Stand on a hard floor or low-pile carpet looking straight forward with your back to the mirror, as you measure, view the tape in the mirror to ensure it is level across your back. Hold the tape taught (but not tight); for best results measure in your undergarments. Its best to ask a friend or family member to measure.
If your measurements fall between sizes, it is best to order the largest size. Ballgowns may be an exception—if the hip measurement only matches the largest size, and you may order the smaller size.
HOW TO MEASURE
Hold the measuring tape straight around the fullest part of the bust. Do not pull the tape too tight.
Measure the “natural waist” or the smallest part of the torso; note the bride’s fit preferences: tight or relaxed.
Measure the widest area of the hip, consider how the bride’s body shape will impact fit points.
D: WAIST TO FLOOR
Measure for length from natural waist to floor; adjust for shoe height and petticoat preference. Please note, in the process of manufacturing a ready-made gown, the length may vary 1” (3 cm.) in either direction.
Sheath, Slim Line, Bias-Cut Gowns 45 ½” - 46” (115 – 117 cm.)
A-line 46 ½” - 47” (118 - 120 cm.)
Full A-line, Pick-up Skirts, Fit & Flares 47 ½” - 48” (120 - 122 cm.)
Ballgowns 48 ½” - 49” (123 - 125 cm
E: HOLLOW TO HEM
Standing flat on the floor with both feet together have someone measure from the hollow point at the neck to the floor.
Please use this measurement chart as a guideline to assist in determining the most appropriate size to order. Consideration should be given as to whether the bride would prefer a “firmer” or a “more relaxed” fit. It should also be noted that not all brides will proportionally follow our standard measurement chart. We suggest in this case to evaluate the style’s “fit points” and order accordingly, i.e. a bride’s hip measurements may be of little consequence when ordering a style with a full or wide A-line skirt but may be of particular importance with a straight column styled skirt. However, some alterations may be necessary to achieve an individual custom fit.
